1. What is the Join Martin Challenge?
UK journalist, Martin Drury, has set himself a challenge: to learn as many languages as possible in just 1 year.
2. Does this mean he has to become fluent in many languages?
No. Martin has to get to a basic, conversational level in as many languages as possible.
3. Why is Martin doing this?
Martin started his challenge to encourage other people to learn a language. Learning a language opens doors to great opportunities: you can advance your career, get promoted, meet new people, make new friends, travel more….the possibilities are endless and enjoyable. Just spend as much time learning a language as your job, busy life, hectic schedule etc allows. You’ll be amazed at what you can achieve.
Oh…and if you were told at school that you were no good at languages…guess what? THEY WERE WRONG!
4. How will Martin go about learning all these languages?
By any means necessary. From the traditional right the way through to the weird and wonderful. From books to CDs, to online lessons, podcasts and videos on Youtube…Martin will use them all to advance his language learning. Martin is a fan of accelerated learning techniques and products and will be using those but he understands that many people are fans of more traditional learning methods so Martin has opted to try a mix of methods, techniques and products.
